Are you looking to hook up with rope makers in your area? Fill out the forms to announce your availability. Maybe you have a historical, or community event and would like to find someone to demonstrate this lost art. Tell us a little about your event, and what you are looking for. We'll post it to the site, and notify our members of your gathering. Hopefully we will be able to find someone to suit your needs. When the event is over, send us a message, we'd love to hear how it went!!

Demonstrator 001

Email: ropesmith@aol.com       Name: Dave & Mike
Location: Albany, NY       Will travel: 25 miles

We give demonstrations to school groups, Scout Groups, Historical Societys, fairs etc. We play a little music then give a lecture on the making of rope in early America. We cover from colonial America to around the Civil War. We have a "hands on" demonstration and let the group make a 15' length of rope.

We also make hemp cordage for historical purposes. We make hand laid hemp slow match and the only NPS approved artillery lanyard, among other things. We have a lot of fun making rope and are always researching rope history!

We have published a handbook, "The Rope Makers Handbook", which explains how to build your own machine and start making rope.
